Ms. Downey is responsible for all operational and strategic aspects of the company. She joined as chief financial officer in April 2000 and was promoted to chief operations officer in 2003. Previously, Ms. Downey was with the Auto Club Group. She serves on the boards of AAA Club Partners, BRE Properties, Inc., and the Bay Area Council. Previously, Ms. Downey has served as chair of the transportation committee of the Bay Area Council and is a past board member of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, Leadership California, the Detroit Urban League, Michigan Metro Girl Scout Council, and Michigan Economic and Environmental Roundtable.
Ms. Downey is a recipient of various high-profile awards, including the Diversity Best Practices 2008 CEO Leadership Award and the 2006 Spirit of Achievement Award from Junior Achievement. She has also been repeatedly recognized as one of the Bay Area's Most Influential Women in Business by the San Francisco Business Times. She received her BA in accounting from the University of Michigan, Dearborn, and her MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Ms. Andel leads the company's efforts in human resources, real estate, corporate communication, corporate social responsibility, diversity, volunteerism, and public relations. She serves on the board of the Bay Area chapter of the American Red Cross and has been recognized with the Industry Leader Award by the Professional Business Women of California. Ms. Andel is a champion of the company's volunteer and diversity programs and has been honored by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the Bay Area's Most Influential Women in Business. Ms. Andel has a BA in English from San Francisco State University.
Ms. Tomlin is focused on branding, while building the direct marketing and sales channel. She leads direct sales and marketing, including brand, marketing analytics and market research, direct marketing and direct sales in three call centers across the United States. Prior to joining the company in August 2012, Ms. Tomlin held the position of vice president with Capital One Bank, where she headed commercial (wholesale) banking, retail marketing and sponsorships. She also previously headed corporate brand for USAA Insurance as their senior marketing officer. Ms. Tomlin holds her BA from Siena College, Loudonville, NY, and her MA in Political Science from North Carolina State University.
Mr. Day is responsible for financial planning and analysis; the controller's office; cash, investments and financial risk management; and strategic sourcing. Prior to joining the company in August 2006, Mr. Day worked at Africast Global Media, MTV Networks, the Walt Disney Company, and Deloitte & Touche. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, serves on the board of the Bay Area Junior Achievement, and is vice chair of the board of AAA Life Insurance Co. Mr. Day has an MBA in finance from Columbia University and a BBA in accounting from Baruch College. He is also a certified public accountant in the state of New York.
Mr. George is responsible for insurance operations, including product management, underwriting, AAA clubs sales & service, and claims, and for delivering a portfolio of relevant and competitive products and services to the insurance company’s AAA partner clubs. He joined the company in June 2007 from USAA in San Antonio, prior to which he spent 21 years with Nationwide Insurance. Mr. George serves on the boards of many institutions, including AAA Life Insurance Company, Advocates for Highway Safety, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and the board of governors for Property Casualty Insurance Association. He previously was a member of the board of directors of AAA Life Insurance Company. He earned a BA from West Virginia Wesleyan College and holds CPCU and CLU professional designations.
Mr. O’Connor oversees the company’s analytics, application, and communication infrastructures. Prior to joining AAA, Mr. O’Connor was the general manager for IT business management for BMC Software, cofounder of ITM Software, and chief information officer and vice president of information services for Silicon Graphics, Inc. He has also held various IT leadership and management positions within Sun Microsystems and Cullinet Software. Mr. O’Connor has a JD from Suffolk University in Boston and a BS in computer science from Boston College.
Mr. Zukerman provides legal oversight and guidance for all aspects of the company. Prior to joining AAA, Mr. Zukerman was with GeoVera Holdings, Critical Path, Driveway Corporation, Sega.com, and Netopia. He has been a frequent speaker at various technology, intellectual property, and software law seminars, and for several years he was a guest lecturer on law and entrepreneurship at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. Mr. Zukerman is also active in youth sports and other civic activities. He earned his law degree at the Washington College of Law at American University and his BA at the University of California at Berkeley.
